Signpost - Ellingham and Kirby Cane
The parish councils of Kirby Cane and Ellingham merged in 2007 to form Kirby Cane & Ellingham Parish Council (see History). The parish council falls under the Gillingham ward of South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council. Being situated in the Waveney Valley, parts of Ellingham also come under the planning rules of the Broads Authority.
Elected (May 2015) for the first time in 20 years, the council represents the whole of the parish and acts as a channel of communication between the parish in dealings with outside bodies, like South Norfolk Council, Norfolk Council, Highways, bus service, grants for parish facilities, playing fields and other parish facilities. It can represent the parish in matters that affect residents or the parish as a whole. It helps develop parish facilities and organisations. It also has specific responsibilities for:
